Cresce in una numerosa famiglia di artigiani il cui padre, poeta dialettale e fabbro, costruisce, insieme ai suoi figli maschi, elaborati ascensori e strutture in ferro battuto.
Le donne della famiglia cuciono, tra l’altro, raffinati vestiti per bambini.
Rita, l’ultimogenita, rimane incantata dalle materie del suo mondo d’infanzia: metallo, stoffe e strutture.
Negli anni 70 frequenta dunque l’Istituto d’Arte Sacra, sceglie la sezione di oreficeria e per un ventennio disegna e realizza gioielli in oro, specializzandosi nella tecnica di fusione a cera persa.
Nel 2003, rivedendo un quadro, che raffigura cappotti appesi, da lei dipinto negli anni del liceo, viene travolta dall’ idea di realizzarlo, ora, in tessuto. Disponendo della padronanza tecnica e della profonda passione per il disegno e il cucito, lei trasforma il pennello in ago e realizza bassorilievi di stoffa su tela, rigorosamente cuciti a mano. Così Rita ricongiunge il metallo, cioè l’ago, ed i tessuti nei suoi quadri, dando vita ad un nuovo percorso creativo.

She was born into a numerous family, artisans for generations. Her father, a blacksmith and poet in the  Roman dialect tradition, and his sons built elaborate wrought iron structures used for elevator cages and other uses. The women of the family, expert seamstresses, sewed elegant clothing for children.
Rita, the youngest child, remained enchanted by the materials  surrounding her in infancy and by the possibilities of their use in different contexts. Thus, in the seventies, choosing to study the art of the goldsmith, she enrolled in the Institute of Sacred Art (Istituto d'Arte Sacra) in Rome. For twenty years she designed and created gold jewelry, specializing in the technique of microfusion.
In 2003,  happening upon a picture painted by herself as an adolescent depicting coats hanging on hooks, she was swept up by the idea of creating a new version of that painting, using textiles. With her technical mastery and a deep passion for drawing and sewing, Rita, transforming  paintbrush into needle and paint into cloth, began creating  bas-reliefs of cloth on canvas, meticulously sewn by hand.
In this way Rita united the magical materials of her infancy,  the metal of the male element and the cloth of the female, needle and fabric,  giving rise in a fecund alchemy to a new creative process.
